Welcome to Theo Sidle's Cheeseburger Files!
As My Lady, the Sidekick and I venture all over DFW and sometimes wander out into the rest of Texas in search of really good cheeseburgers, I will keep my list of cheeseburger joints here.
Here is my current list of my favorite five - The Cheeseburger List
#5 - Twisted Root
#4 - M&O Station Grill
#3 - Mooyah
#2 - Five Guys
And our Number One Most Favoritest Cheeseburger is. . .
My Lady's list is pretty much the same, except that she switches Mooyah and Five Guys around; however, my list is based on the Five Guys in Southlake. I've been to two other Five Guys restaurants (Irving and Hurst), and I would have to say that they both fall below Mooyah. Maybe Southlake's Five Guys is a signature store. You might notice that I'm not splitting the list between Mom-n-Pop places and chain restaurants. I personally prefer Mom-n-Pop places, but I try to let each cheeseburger stand on its own. Also, I try to order the first cheeseburger without anything special... just whatever the restaurant's standard cheeseburger as they usually serve it. A lot of places will have great specialty cheeseburgers (like Al's Jalapeño Bacon Burger or Fred's Diablo Burger) but I only want to judge a place on the standard cheeseburger first. We usually try to go back and try the specialty burgers later. That being said, I should admit that it really isn't fair that The Grape is on the top of the list. Their 'standard' cheeseburger is grilled by a chef and has homemade peppered bacon, white cheddar and dijonaise on a toasted pain au lait bun. Izzat some hoity-toity shit or what?! But it is the best cheeseburger in Texas, and since no place in the world could possibly have a better cheeseburger than Texas, that also makes it the best cheeseburger in the world... at least, to the best of my knowledge and experience.
Here is the checklist of places we have tried:
- Kincaid's - Fort Worth
- Pappa's Burgers - Fort Worth
- Fred's Texas Cafe - Fort Worth
- M&O Station Grill - Fort Worth

- Twisted Root - Dallas
- Elevation Burger - Dallas - My Review
I do intend to go back and get pictures and write reviews of some of them. I wish I'd thought to do that all along, but we started our cheeseburger tour before I thought to really get serious with the blog... and then I found some cheeseburger review websites that were much better than what I thought I could do. But now I'm all... FUCK IT! WE'LL DO IT LIVE!! So look for more here, probably at least once a month.
